I am thrilled to share the stunning cover for my debut collection of short stories, SHROUDED HORROR: TALES OF THE UNCANNY (Dragon’s Roost Press).

Carrion House, a UK-based artist, did an amazing job capturing the monsters that haunt these pages!

SHROUDED HORROR: TALES OF THE UNCANNY, is a mix of my previously published short stories as well as new ones. These cosmic and weird stories are about horrors that lie below the surface, ready to bubble up and disturb the veil of our everyday lives.

My cosmic horror story, “The U Train,” appears in Tales of Sley House 2022, now available! This anthology features lots of unsettling and creepy horror stories divided into three themes.

In “The U Train,” four strangers find themselves on a subway platform, waiting on a train that shouldn’t exist. But as they try to find out why they’re there and how they might escape, they realize that when the train arrives, a fate worse than death might be waiting for them.

The story was also produced as an audio drama, which you can listen to for free at one of the links below.

“U Train” description:

Four strangers find themselves on a New York subway platform, waiting on a train that shouldn’t exist. But as they try to find out why they’re there and how they might escape, they realize that when the train arrives, a fate worse than death might be waiting for them.

The story was inspired by far too many hellish city commutes and what felt like eternal waiting for transfers
!

“U Train” will also be available in Halloween Tales of Sley House 2022 later this fall along with other spooky stories. You can also listen to more of Sley House’s podcast, Sley Bits, on all things horror and fantasy – https://sleyhousepublishing.podbean.com.

Cover of Cosmic Horror Monthly March 2022.

My short horror story “Crab Man” is now available in the March 2022 issue of the delightful Cosmic Horror Monthly magazine.

“Crab Man” is a tale of a city courier who crosses the wrong cult. A writer instructor likened the first draft to the kind of fever dream you might have after eating expired gas station sushi. If that’s not an endorsement for a weird story, I don’t know what is!

Beyond the Infinite

I’ve sold a new short story to an anthology focused on my favorite category of genre fiction: science fiction horror.

Beyond the Infinite: Tales from the Outer Reaches is the latest installment in the “Things in the Well” publication series, which includes several themed horror anthologies showcasing new and established authors such as Clive Barker. Edited by Steve Dillon and featuring the classic “The Colour Out of Space” by H.P. Lovecraft as well as stories by H.G. Wells, Brian Lumley, Ramsey Campbell and others, this one promises to be an exciting collection of classic and new dark science fiction.

My story, “The Peerlings,” tells the tale of an off-world colony whose members begin to vanish once elusive creatures–who can only safely be heard, not seen–descend upon their home. The story debuts in this anthology (July 2018).

My story BETTER HALVES and other unsettling paranormal and cosmic tales are now available in the print issue of Lovecraft eZine (#36), published by Mike Davis.

I wouldn’t want to run into that creature at night!

My latest horror story, BETTER HALVES, and other disturbing tales are available in the new issue of the excellent Lovecraft eZine (#36). This piece was conceived at a Cape Cod inn whose owners had a strange obsession with mirrors…

Check it out and let me know what you think in the comments! Also check out the wonderfully disturbing illustration by SandPaperDaisy Art.

“What the Storm Brings” and other unsettling tales are available in the latest issue of the excellent Lovecraft eZine (#34). This story was inspired by Superstorm Sandy in 2012 and the eerie anticipation-anxiety that descends on a town before a weather disaster. Let me know what you think in the comments!
